Fertilizer Vending Machine (FVM)

GSFC installed Fertilizer Vending Machines (FVMs)

Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC), a joint sector company promoted by Government of Gujarat, working in the core interest of farmers for past more than 50 years. It is one of the largest suppliers of chemical fertilizers and other quality agro inputs to the farmers under its umbrella brand “Sardar. GSFC is known for its innovations, backed by package of scientific services – end to end solutions in the field of agriculture for all these years with an intension to bring overall prosperity in agriculture.

At present, fertilizers are available in 50 kg bags in the market, which forces small & marginal farmers, having requirements in small lots to buy 50kg bag hampering proper nutrient management as they don’t apply the optimum mix of different grades of Fertilizers as per the requirement of soil and crops leading to under or over application of fertilizers. Even the kitchen garden loving people in Urban areas are finding it difficult to buy required fertilizers in smaller lots.

Recognizing this difficulty being faced by such small users, GSFC has developed special fertilizer vending machines (FVMs) to dispense fertilizers in smaller quantities, less than a bag & sought special approval from Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India to install such machines in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan states. FVMs will enable small users to buy fertilizers even one kg at a time.

Today, Ms Bharathi Sivaswami Sihag, Secretary Union Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, GoI has inaugurated the installation of such 1st FVM at company’s HQ, close to Vadodara city. Ms Bharathi has appreciated the special initiative of GSFC, which will facilitate fertilizer requirement of smaller farmers & urban garden lovers in a convenient manner.

While addressing to the gathering, Mr. AM Tiwari, MD, GSFC has said that all vital fertilizers such as Urea, Ammonium Sulphate, Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate will be available for sale through such machines in denomination of 1 and 5 Kg as per the exact requirement of crops. In fact, this will help in bringing balanced use of fertilizers in a long run. Mr. Tiwari has said that this will definitely help small farmers as well as urban users to a great extent for their piece-meal requirement in smaller lots. FVM will also enable farmers to blend different types of fertilizers to fulfill their customized required as per required doses in soil testing report. Mr. Tiwari further informed that company is going to install such 10 machines in remote areas of Gujarat soon.
